A Very Special Evening with Kevin Day: Author of Opening a Bottle: Italy
We are thrilled to invite you to one of our most unique and intimate evenings to date. This exclusive opportunity allows you to meet acclaimed author and photographer Kevin Day and taste along with his brand-new book Opening a Bottle: Italy.
Kevin is the founder and editor-in-chief of the respected online wine publication Opening a Bottle, a source we regularly recommend to our students for its depth, insight, and storytelling. His new book is a true labor of love, featuring his evocative photography , thoughtful producer profiles, a foreword by Anthony Giglio (contributing editor and long-time wine writer at Food & Wine Magazine) and a curated list of 100 Italian wines to admire. In total, we’ll taste 10 wines featured in the book.
We’re proud to say that Kevin is not only a colleague but also a frequent collaborator. Over the years, we’ve worked together on various projects, shared ideas, and supported one another’s educational efforts. All of this is rooted in a mutual passion for Italian wine, its people, and its stories. His thoughtful approach to wine mirrors our own values at Grappolo, and we’re honored to host him for this special evening.
Kevin has received international recognition for his humble, thorough, and engaging writing style.
Kevin has become a sort of unofficial Etna ambassador thanks to his deep connection to the volcano and its people. As a proud Colorado native and Denver local, this is also a celebration of local talent making a global impact in the wine world. During the tasting portion of the evening, Kevin will lead us on a visual journey of Italian wine through his stunning photography
We consider Kevin one of the most vital voices in wine today. He forgoes ratings in favor of rich narrative, deep research, and heartfelt reflection. And perhaps most importantly—he’s simply a really good man.
This is your chance to hear the story behind the book directly from the author himself: his writing process, how he selected the 100 wines, and the experiences and producers that shaped the journey. The wines we taste will also be available for purchase through our retail partner.
Books will be available for purchase and signing on site, making it a perfect gift for wine lovers or a beautiful addition to your own collection. The book retails for $49.
Scott Thomas of Grappolo Food & Wine School will moderate the evening, guiding the conversation and opening the floor for questions from our guests.
